The bay does most of the work. This guide explains what the cruises we sell actually offer for couples and celebrations, which cabins suit a honeymoon, and how to plan a proposal on board without the surprise falling apart. A Ha Long Bay cruise proposal: how to plan it
A proposal is the one occasion where timing matters more than the cabin. A few things make it go smoothly:
- Tell us privately. Message us on WhatsApp from your own phone and say it is a proposal. We pass it to the cruise as a surprise, so nothing appears in a shared booking email.
- Pick the moment. Most overnight cruises have a sunset party on the sundeck between about 17:00 and 19:00. Golden light, the karsts behind you and a drink in hand: it is the natural moment. A private dinner (on Starlight) or the decorated cabin (on Aqua of the Seas) are quieter options.
- Choose a ship that decorates for proposals. Aqua of the Seas lists free room decoration for proposals. On other ships, we organise the celebration and the crew prepare the cabin.
- Keep a weather plan. Activities on Ha Long Bay change with the weather and the bay authority's rules. If rain or wind moves the sunset party indoors, the cabin or the restaurant becomes plan B. Decide this in advance so you are not improvising with a ring in your pocket.
- Bring the ring in your hand luggage. You keep your passport with you for cruise check-in anyway; keep the ring in the same bag.
Honeymoon cruise in Ha Long Bay: which cabin?
For a honeymoon, the cabin is half the experience. These are the suites built for couples on the cruises we sell:
- La Casta Cruise, Honeymoon VIP Suite: 50 m², a round king bed, a sofa and a jacuzzi facing the sea. There are three on board.
- La Casta Regal Cruise, Honeymoon VIP Suite: two versions, a 50 m² suite with a balcony or a 60 m² suite with a private terrace, both with a round bed and a sea-facing jacuzzi.
- Victorious Cruise, VIP Honeymoon Suite with Terrace: the largest suite on board at 90 m², with a big private terrace and a bathroom with a bathtub, rain shower and jacuzzi facing the sea.
- Capella Cruise, La Suite de Capella: 57 m² with a private terrace, described as made for a romantic stay. Every one of Capella's 30 suites has an ocean-view bathtub.
- Lyra Grandeur Cruise, La Suite de Lyra: 57 m², a suite for couples with its own terrace and sundeck, on a ship launched in 2025.

Celebrating a birthday or anniversary on board
A birthday on Ha Long Bay is easy to arrange: tell us the date and the name when you book. We bring the cake and decorate the cabin, and the crew help with the moment, usually at dinner. On Aqua of the Seas, guests whose birthday is on the departure date also get the ship's own birthday cake.
For an anniversary, the same applies. If you want something more private than the restaurant, Starlight offers a private dinner in the cabin, on the sundeck or in the wine cellar on request.
Practical tips for couples

- Drinks are extra. On the cruises above, drinks from the bar are not included, so a bottle for a toast is ordered on board.
