Which Ha Long Bay cruises offer halal menus, honeymoon suites, proposal decorations and private dinners? A checked list: two ships confirm halal, and we say plainly where we could not confirm it.

Looking for a halal Ha Long Bay cruise, or a ship that decorates the cabin for a honeymoon or proposal? This is a ship-by-ship list of the overnight cruises we sell and what each one states about halal food, couples' suites and celebrations. We checked every Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay cruise page on our site, and we only list what the cruise has confirmed. It is written by the AmGo Travel team in Hanoi, who book these cruises every week.
Halal Ha Long Bay cruises: the two confirmed ships
Of the overnight cruises we sell, two state clearly that they can prepare a halal menu. Both belong to the Lyra Cruise Collection and follow the same Lan Ha Bay route.
Capella Cruise
- Halal: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal menus can be prepared if you tell us at least 24 hours before departure.
- The ship: launched in 2020, 30 suites on six decks, each with a private balcony or terrace and an ocean-view bathtub.
- For couples: La Suite de Capella (57 m², private terrace) is described as made for a romantic stay; the Owner Suite (92 m²) has an outdoor jacuzzi and a private sundeck.
- On board: heated infinity pool and jacuzzi, a waterslide into the bay, mini-golf, a tea ceremony, kayaking in Frog Lagoon and the Dark & Bright Cave by bamboo boat.
- Meals: four meals on board (lunch, dinner, breakfast and brunch).
Lyra Grandeur Cruise
- Halal: the same policy as Capella: vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal menus with at least 24 hours' notice.
- The ship: launched in 2025, 33 suites on six decks, all with a private balcony or terrace and a bathtub facing the bay.
- For couples: La Suite de Lyra (57 m²) is a couples' suite with its own terrace and sundeck; the Owner Suite (92 m²) has a steam bath and an ocean-view jacuzzi bathtub.
- On board: a four-season pool and jacuzzi, an outdoor Nordic-style sauna, a spa, a waterslide and a 360° observatory.
- Meals: four meals in the Harmony of the Sea restaurant.
What we could not confirm
On the other overnight cruises we sell, the tour pages mention allergies and vegetarian meals, but they do not say "halal". We would rather tell you that plainly than promise something the kitchen has not confirmed. If you want a different ship, message us before you book and we will ask the cruise in writing, then tell you the exact answer.
A few honest notes for Muslim travellers:
- Seafood is a big part of the menus on Ha Long Bay, and Vietnamese cooking often uses pork, so a separate halal menu is not the same as choosing dishes from the buffet. Ask for the halal menu and give us at least 24 hours.
- The cruises have bars on board that serve alcohol, and bar drinks are paid separately, so you only pay for what you order.
- If you also want a private dinner away from the main restaurant, Starlight Cruise offers one, but halal is not listed on that ship.
Cruises with romantic set-ups and celebrations

Which ship should you choose?
- You need halal food and a romantic suite: Capella or Lyra Grandeur. Lyra Grandeur is the newer, bigger ship with a sauna and spa; Capella is smaller and quieter with the same route.
- You are proposing: Aqua of the Seas lists free decoration for proposals and every cabin has a sea-view balcony and bathtub. Transfers from Hanoi are included.
- You want the biggest honeymoon suite: the 90 m² VIP Honeymoon Suite on Victorious.
- You want a private dinner: Starlight, in the cabin, on the sundeck or in the wine cellar.

How to book a halal or honeymoon cruise
- Choose the ship and, for a honeymoon, the suite.
- When you book, tell us the occasion (proposal, honeymoon, birthday, anniversary), the date and the names.
- For halal or any special diet, tell us at least 24 hours before departure. We confirm it with the cruise.
- Bring your passport or ID: it is needed for cruise check-in.
