This is a close-up morning with the farming and fishing families who live just outside Hoi An.
You set off by bicycle along quiet country roads, seeing rural Vietnam as it really is, and stop at Tra Que Vegetable Village to learn traditional farming. Then you step into the flooded rice fields: your guide explains how rice is grown from planting to harvest, and you take a turn ploughing with a water buffalo and transplanting young seedlings.
After that, a round bamboo basket boat – the 'thúng chai' – carries you along coconut-palm waterways to meet local fishermen and hear how the American War touched this area. Lunch is in a local house before you cycle back to your hotel.
