Amid the new streets that keep growing around Hoi An, three villages still live by the old trades. Ordinary people here lead lovely lives and keep the traditional values of their country alive – and they are happy to show you how.
At Thanh Ha you explore temples and museums with exhibitions about local history, then try pottery-making with your own hands. Across the Thu Bon River from the Ancient Town, Kim Bong rings with the sound of chisels as craftsmen carve wood the way their families always have.
The last stop is Tra Que, a peaceful vegetable village with a history of over 300 years. You put on a farm uniform and work the soil like a local farmer, then sit down to a set-menu meal at a local restaurant in the village.
