Two sides of Hoi An in one day: the fishing life of the coconut forest in the morning, the Champa kingdom's holy land in the afternoon.
The day begins with local craftsmen who show you how to make a brightly coloured lantern – yours to take home as a gift. In Cam Thanh you drift through the coconut forest, catch crabs, try round-net and cast-net fishing, learn to paddle a bamboo basket boat and race one, then sit down to seven local dishes at a fisherman's house.
After a rest, you head inland to My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to walk among centuries-old Champa temples and watch an Apsara dance. The day ends on the water: a boat back to Hoi An along the Thu Bon River at sunset, banh mi in hand.
