Ha Long Bay is the kind of place people have seen in photos long before they arrive – and it still takes the breath away. Nearly two thousand limestone islands rise straight out of jade water, and this UNESCO World Heritage site is close enough to Hanoi for a single, unhurried day.
You leave the Old Quarter in the morning and take the expressway to the coast. Reina Cruise is a new steel boat, launched in 2025. Lunch is served as the boat slips between the islands, then the bay opens up stop by stop: the still water inside Luon Cave, the great chambers of Sung Sot, and the view from the top of Ti Top Island.
As the light turns gold, everyone gathers on deck for the sunset party before the ride back to Hanoi.
