Sapa Day Trek: Lao Chai – Ta Van Villages

A day on foot through the rice terraces of the Muong Hoa valley to the villages of Lao Chai and Ta Van, with meals included. Starts in Sapa: transport from Hanoi is not included.

Below Sapa town the land falls away into the Muong Hoa valley, where rice terraces step down the slopes towards the stream and the Hoang Lien Son mountains close the horizon.

This trek follows the valley to Lao Chai, a village of the Black H'mong, and on to Ta Van, where Black H'mong, Dzao and Dzay families live side by side. It is the classic Sapa walk: fields, footpaths, wooden houses and the everyday life of the valley.

Meals are included, so all you need to bring is a good pair of shoes.

    Meet your group in Sapa town and set out into the Muong Hoa valley. The trail runs through the rice terraces to Lao Chai, a village of the Black H'mong, with the Hoang Lien Son mountains all around. Continue through the valley to Ta Van, where Black H'mong, Dzao and Dzay families live. Meals are included in the day.

Yes, meals are included in the tour price.

Is transport from Hanoi included?

No. This is a land tour that starts in Sapa, so the trip Hanoi – Sapa – Hanoi is not included. We can book a round-trip bus ticket for you: sleeper bus from 280,000 VND, cabin bus from 490,000 VND and Limousine (Dcar) from 532,000 VND per person. For the train, ask us and we will check.

How much do children pay?

Children aged 1–4 go free when sharing transport and a bed with their parents (parents pay any extra costs). Children aged 5–8 pay 75% of the tour price, with their own meals and sharing a bed with their parents. From 9 years old the adult price applies. Bus tickets are charged at the adult price for every age.

Are prices different on public holidays?
