A day in quiet Lan Ha Bay from Hanoi: cruise past Cai Beo floating village, lunch on board, visit Viet Hai village by bike or electric car, then kayak, swim, boat-jump and slide from the top deck.

Lan Ha Bay, east of Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong, is far less crowded than Ha Long Bay. Its 400-odd islands are covered in tropical green, with quiet beaches such as Cat Co and Ba Trai Dao, and the water is ideal for kayaking and swimming.

It suits travellers who want an unspoiled bay with fewer boats.

    Cruise slowly past Cai Beo, an ancient fishing village of floating houses, then into the heart of the bay among hundreds of islands.

    Viet Hai village

    Land at Viet Hai and ride a bicycle or electric car to the old village. Try a fish foot massage, walk among traditional houses and chat with locals.

    Kayaking and swimming

    The captain picks the best spot for swimming, boat jumping, sliding from the top deck and kayaking. Wear a life jacket for water activities.

    Sunset party and return

    Relax on the top deck on the way back, with fruit, biscuits and tea at 16:15. Back at Beo pier at 16:45 and in Hanoi Old Quarter around 20:30.
